Candiace Baker

Candiace was a detective with the NYPD during the attack. In the aftermath, she was assigned to missing persons and logged over 400 hours of overtime searching the debris transported from the Ground Zero site to the Freshkills Landfill on Staten Island. As a result of her work and ongoing exposure to toxic materials from the site, Candiace developed asthma and was diagnosed with breast cancer. Today, she lives in sunny Florida and is a breast cancer survivor.
