Frequently Asked
Questions
Support staff volunteers help make sure that everything runs smoothly, that everyone has a great time and that all our meals get packed and delivered to where they will do the most good. When you arrive we will assign you to a specific role, based on what interests you (and what you can do physically).
Here are the roles and responsibilities:
- Table captains: You’ll lead a meal packing assembly line! You’ll teach the volunteers as they arrive, troubleshoot and answer questions throughout the shift, and keep energy levels and spirits high!
- Heavy lifters: Your job will be to keep tables supplied with meal ingredients, and carry completed boxes to be loaded onto pallets. Note – this role requires that you can lift/carry 50 lbs boxes during the course of the actual meal pack, about 90 minutes, but you can usually switch to another job when you get tired.
- Hospitality hosts: Your job will be to help with check-in, provide directional support for volunteers as they arrive, or keep food and drink stocked in our staff training room.
- Set up and break down support: Your job will be to get the room ready pre-event, or to clean up post-event.
